Spreading awareness of a taboo problem

In South Africa, it’s estimated a rape is committed every 17 seconds. In many cases, ‘date rape’ drugs are used to render the victim helpless.

In conjunction with South African Breweries, we developed The Spike Detector – an innovative solution that turned traditional bar coasters into drink spike detection tests.

By placing a drop of their drink on their coaster, people could quickly and easily check their drinks for drugs such as GHB and Ketamine. A crisis helpline gave them access to immediate medical assistance should they need it.

Not only did this act as a deterrent, but it helped spread awareness of a taboo problem.
